Hyderabad: A close aide of former Chief Minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh YS Rajasekhara Reddy, E. Suryanarayana Reddy alias Sureedu, was attacked allegedly by his son-in-law at his house in Jubilee Hills here on Tuesday night.

Police said Sureedu’s daughter Ganga Bhavani, who was married to one Surendranath a few years ago, was staying with her parents due to disputes with her husband. She had recently approached the police and filed a harassment case against Surendranath, who allegedly began pressurising his wife and father-in-law to withdraw the case. There were heated arguments between both parties since then, poliec said.

On Tuesday, Surendranath went to Sureedu’s house and after allegedly abusing him, hit him with a cricket bat, resulting in injuries. His condition was stated to be stable.

“Following a complaint from Ganga Bhavani, we have booked a case of attempt to murder and are investigating,” police said.
