ZIMA Film School launches Oggu Katha Universe Awards – 2025
ZIMA Film School, Hyderabad, announced the Oggu Katha Universe Awards – 2025 to honour Telangana’s folk storytellers and revive Oggu Katha. The November 2025 event will celebrate traditional artists and invite nominations statewide until October 20, 2025
Hyderabad: In a novel cultural initiative, Zee Institute of Media Arts (ZIMA) Film School, Hyderabad, on Monday, has announced the launch of the Oggu Katha Universe Awards – 2025, the first-of-its-kind platform to recognise and revive Oggu Katha, Telangana’s powerful folk theatre storytelling tradition.
The unique awards ceremony aims to celebrate legendary folk artists, preserve oral traditions through digital documentation, and foster collaborations between folk and mainstream media industries, said Dr G Kumara Swamy, Head of ZIMA.
The Oggu Katha Universe Awards – 2025, being organised in collaboration with Eastern Eagle Entertainment, will be held in November 2025 at the Grand Cultural Auditorium, Hyderabad.
With the theme “Where Folk Tales Become Universal,” the initiative, which marks a major step toward promoting Telangana’s rich folk culture on national and global platforms, will bring together dignitaries, folk artists, students, media, and the general public to celebrate Telangana’s rich storytelling tradition.
On this occasion, the ZIMA Film School invites statewide nominations for veteran and legendary Oggu Katha artists to be honored at the Oggu Katha Universe Awards – 2025.
