​​​Five out of 10 Uber-EXCHANGE winning startups are from Hyderabad​

The five Hyderabad-based winner startups were Anytimeloan, Docturnal, Imaginate, Ekincare and Carengrow.

Hyderabad: Doing the host city proud at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit here, five out of 10 startups, who have won an all-expense-paid trip to San Francisco as part of the Uber-EXCHANGE programme, have turned out to be Hyderabad-based ones.

The 10 startups, who were felicitated IT Minister KT Rama Rao during the GES here on Wednesday, will soon head to San Francisco, where they will visit Uber’s headquarters to meet the executive leadership team and be introduced to potential investors.

Uber-EXCHANGE was launched in 2016 as part of Uber’s efforts to create a startup ecosystem in partnership with Invest India. Since then, over 150 startups were mentored by Uber’s senior leadership team. The finalists were chosen through a rigorous selection process anchored by T-Hub, Telangana’s flagship startup incubator and accelerator.

The five Hyderabad-based startups were Anytimeloan, Docturnal, Imaginate, Ekincare and Carengrow.

Speaking on the occasion, Rao said T-Hub would continue to guide startups.

“Uber is an exceptional partner who can really take them places. I hope the startups do extremely well going forward,” he said, adding that Telangana would soon come out with its own Electric Vehicle policy. Efforts were on to hold talks with Mahindra as well to check out the possibility of manufacturing electric vehicles here itself, he said.

Gayam Raja, founder of Gayam Motor Works, one of the 10 winners said Gayam had already signed up UberEATS as their first customer for limitless e-bikes in Singapore, Hongkong and San Francisco through Uber-EXCHANGE.
