Hyderabad: Over 3 crore Covid-19 vaccines have been administered so far in Telangana, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar said on Saturday after inspecting the mobile vaccination drive in Sunrise Homes Colony, Rajendra Nagar. The drive is part of a 10-day mobile vaccination campaign that began in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits on Saturday to administer the second dose of vaccine.
“Every eligible person should utilise the programme. In the State, over 3 crore Covid-19 vaccines have been administered. Vaccine is the only solution that safeguards people from Covid-19,” Somesh Kumar said. He was accompanied by Health Secretary Syed Ali Murtaza Rizvi and GHMC commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar.
“Around 90 per cent of eligible people have been vaccinated in Hyderabad. To cover the remaining persons, 150 mobile vaccination centres have been set up,” said Rizvi.
Lokesh Kumar said the drive would cover 450 residential colonies every day and if needed, the drive would be extended.
As a part of the drive, vehicles equipped with a public address system went around the colonies and informed residents about the drive. Several people visited the vaccination centre along with their Aadhaar card with officials doing spot registration of the beneficiaries. The details were entered in the CoWIN app before the vaccine was administered.
Civic officials were also seen enquiring about the health of people post vaccination and beneficiaries were informed about the medicines that need to be taken in case of fever. The drive is the second mobile vaccination drive being held in the city within two months. In August, a similar drive was held in the city and administering the vaccine in residential localities under the programme helped many people who were not aware of the procedures to get themselves registered using the CoWIN app, officials said.
