Task Force and Wardhannapet police seized 100 kgs ganja and arrested three persons at Yellanda village of Wardhannapet mandal in Warangal Rural district on Sunday.
Warangal Urban: Task Force and Wardhannapet police seized around 100 kg of dry ganja worth about Rs 10 lakh and arrested three persons, including a woman.
Giving details of the case to the media here on Sunday, Commissioner of Police (CP) Tarun Joshi informed that the accused were arrested during vehicle inspections at Yellanda village of Wardhannapet mandal in Warangal Rural district.
The accused were identified as Kondisetty Satyanarayana of Bhadrachalam in Kothagudem district, Islavath Vinod Kumar of Pinnareddygudem of Garla mandal in Mahabubabad district and Ajmeera Rama Devi of Mamindlagudem in Khammam.
Satyanarayana, a car driver by profession has formed a gang with Rama Devi, Vinod Kumar, Raju and Pravin to smuggle ganja from Kunta area in Odisha to sell it in Pune, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Surath and other places to earn easy money, the CP said.
With the help of Raju and Pravin, who were now absconding, the three others bought 100 kgs ganja at Kunta on April 23 and smuggled the substance to Thorrur in a car in which modifications were made to hide the substance.
Their modus operandi was that Satyanarayana used to drive the car carrying ganja while Vinod and Rama Devi pilot the car on a wheeler to check and alert the car driver about police presence on the road.
They were caught when smuggling purchased ganja to Warangal. A car, a two wheeler and three mobile phones used by the accused were also seized, the CP said.
