Khammam: All the persons above 18 years of age in the district have been administered the first dose of Covid vaccine.
A programme was organised at the ZP hall here on Monday to felicitate the health officials for the 100 per cent achievement. Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar who attended the programme lauded the district administration for completing the first dose of Covid vaccination.
He said the State government had taken effective measures to prevent the spread of Covid. The country and the State have succeeded in stopping the severity of the pandemic even as many nations in the world were still suffering because of the pandemic, he said.
Ajay Kumar informed that a total of 10,61,799 eligible persons have been vaccinated in the district. Similarly, administering the second dose was 73 percent complete. He wanted the health officials to complete the second dose vaccination by maintaining the same spirit.
The State suffered least damage from the Covid because of the special initiatives taken by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao in dealing with the pandemic. Soon the booster dose of the Covid vaccine would be available in Telangana, he said.
Telangana stands at number one place in the country in administering the Covid vaccine to the people. By Friday 99.35 eligible people administered the first dose and the second dose to 63.40 percent of the population in the State, the Minister said.
The officers of the concerned departments worked hard from the village level to urban level to stop the spread of the coronavirus. All infrastructure like medical oxygen, beds and tests were made available to the people of the district to treat the patients.
Ajay Kumar expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the medical officers, staff, panchayat, Anganwadi, municipal and other departmental staff who risked their lives to provide their services to the people of Khammam district.
District Collector VP Gautham informed that as many as 270 government and 10 private vaccination centres have been set up with 500 health officials and staff to achieve cent percent first dose vaccination.
ZP Chairman Lingala Kamal Raju, Mayor P Neeraja, SUDA Chairman B Vijay Kumar, Municipal Commissioner Adarsh Surabhi, Additional Collector N Madhusudan, DM&HO Dr. B Malathi and others were present.
