Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Anti-Human Trafficking Unit along with Women and Child Welfare Department officials raided Rishab Industries at Mangalpally in Ibrahimpatnam and rescued 12 children, including six girls from child labour on Monday night. Two persons were arrested.
The arrested persons were N Bhupesh Jain (44), a trader from West Marredpally and Sunil Kumar (27), a labour contractor from Ibrahimpatnam.
According to the police, the children aged between 15 to 17 years belonged to Chhattisgarh and Bihar were trafficked by the suspects and detained in sheds located within the premises of the company which makes disposable paper material. They were being exploited for labour work inhumanly in contravention to labour laws.
“They made the children work for more than 12 hours a day. They lured the parents of these children with money and brought them to Hyderabad. They paid them meager wages and kept them in unhygienic conditions,” said an official.
