12 held for cockfights in Asifabad

In the first incident, nine individuals were caught red-handed while engaging in the act at Janagama village in Koutala mandal. The police confiscated Rs 3,900 in cash, three roosters, and three knives from their possession.

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: In two different incidents, a dozen persons were arrested for allegedly indulging in banned cockfights organized in view of Sankranti festival celebrated in the district on Tuesday.

In the first incident, nine people were apprehended while they were committing the offence at Janagama village in Koutala mandal. Police seized cash in Rs 3,900, three roosters and three knives were seized from them.


The accused persons were Kare Mahesh, Bewankar Chandu, Urkude Santosh, Kova Pallikarao, Vemulawada Sattenna, Dandera Pandurang, Wadai Ravinder, Sonle Bheemrao and Jade Thirupathi, all belonging to different parts of Koutala mandal, Sub-Inspector N Madhukar said.

Meanwhile, three persons were apprehended when they were involved in the prohibited cockfights at Ranavelli village in Chintalamanepalli mandal. Three motorbikes, two roosters and cash Rs 1,550 were seized from their possession, Sub-Inspector Naresh informed.
