12 test positive for Omicron at RGIA

Hyderabad: A total of 12 persons, which includes 10 international passengers who arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad, and two close contacts, have tested positive for Omicron variant on Monday. With this, the total number of Omicron variant Covid-19 infections in Telangana has reached 55 out of which 4 individuals were close contacts while the rest were international travelers.

Of the 12 international passengers who tested positive for Omicron on Monday, 10 were from non-at-risk countries and 2 were close contacts of Omicron positive patients.


Overall, out of the 55 Omicron positive cases, 38 passengers were from non at-risk countries, three were from at-risk countries and four individuals were close contacts of Omicron positive patients. So far, a total of 10 international arrivals have recovered from the Omicron variant and have been discharged.

On Monday, a total of 263 international passengers arrived at RGIA Shamshabad out of which 24 have tested positive for Covid-19. The blood samples of all the Covid positive patients have been sent for full genome sequencing.
