125 INF Battalion defeated KVBR 78-53 in the G.M. Sampath Kumar Annual League Basketball Championship at YMCA, Secunderabad

Hyderabad: 125 INF Battalion scored a hard-fought 78-53 win over KVBR after leading 50-27 at half-time in the G.M. Sampath Kumar Annual League Basketball Championship at the YMCA, Secunderabad, on Saturday.

125 INF Battalion had to toil for each basket as KVBR put up a brave fight throughout. The Army outfit started well in the fast-paced game, with Prasad, Akram and Clifton combining well to score 24 points.

However, KVBR were not far behind, scoring 18 points through Pandu and Amshul, including two three-pointers from Pandu.

In the second quarter, the Army outfit continued in the same vein, scoring 26 points, while tight defence restricted KVBR to just nine points as 125 INF Battalion led 50-27 at half-time.

After the lemon break, both teams emphasised defence. In a low-scoring third quarter, 125 INF Battalion and KVBR scored 16 and nine points, respectively.

In the final quarter, KVBR upped their game and outscored the Army outfit 17-12, with Havishram holding fort for KVBR and Koushik sinking two three-pointers. However, the deficit was too massive to overcome, and 125 INF Battalion prevailed 78-53 in the end.

In another match, Mamata Medical College eased past Titans ‘B’ 77-39 after leading 39-14 at half-time.
