Khammam: As many as 15, 000 chilli farmers in the district would be trained under Saagu-Baagu project being implemented in Public Private Cooperation (PPC) framework aiming to deploy emerging technologies in agriculture.

A meeting of stakeholders and district officials was held here on Thursday to create awareness about the project. District Collector VP Gautham and Special Commissioner (Agriculture) Hanumanthu Kodimba addressed the meeting.


The Collector informed that the farmers from 21 mandals in the district were allotted to agritech firms, Digital Green and DeHaat, the Project Implementation Partners (PIPs) in the district in coordination with agriculture, horticulture and marketing departments.

Gautham asked the PIPs to introduce innovative technologies in a scalable and sustainable manner to help the farmers gain high yield with low investment to become financially strong. He appealed to the farmers to make better use of the project.

Kodimba stated that the State government initiated the project to help the chilli farmers to adopt modern farming technologies and skills and to better the marketing facilities. He told the officials to extend their full cooperation to the PIP in the implementation of the project.

Trainee Collector B Rahul, Horticulture Dy. Director Venu Gopal, Horticulture Officer Anasuya and others were present.
