The government has laid focus on education and was ready to allocate as much funds as needed in the State budget. Funds were allocated in the vote-on-account budget for the construction of concrete buildings for all residential schools, he noted.
The Collector said that there was no shortage of cotton seeds in the district. As 5.25 lakh packets of cotton seeds were required in the district as many as 5.60 lakh packets were available.
It was said that as district Collector VP Gautham examined nomination papers, Congress candidate Ramasahayam Raghuram Reddy’s supporters asked the election officials to reject the nomination of Nageswara Rao as he failed to mention the ED case in the affidavit.
Collector Gautham informed that the scrutiny of 72 nominations filed by 45 candidates for Khammam Lok Sabha was done and nominations of four candidates were rejected.
He asked the nodal officers to carry out their assigned duties effectively and take all measures to ensure that the upcoming elections were conducted smoothly without any mistakes.
The Collector along with Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt addressed the media on Wednesday after inaugurating the media centre at the Zilla Parishad meeting hall on the preparations for the Lok Sabha elections.
The Collector presented cash rewards to the four persons who came first in the run and administered a pledge to exercise the right to vote democratically.
He inquired about the enrollment of students and the number of teachers in the schools. As the enrollment was low, steps should be taken to increase the enrollment in the next academic year, he suggested.
He directed the officials to prepare the list of polling officers (POs), APOs and OPOs should be prepared for 1459 polling stations in the district. Along with the requirement of actualpersonnel, reserve personnel should be listed.
