Khammam: All arrangements were in place for Ganesh immersion that to be held on Sunday in the district, stated District Collector VP Gautham.
He, along with Commissioner of Police Vishnu S Warrier, inspected immersion locations at Prakash Nagar, Kalvoddu, Munneru stream area and others here on Saturday. He directed the officials to ensure that devotees should not cross barricades set up at the water bodies.
Expert swimmers have to be present at all locations until the process of immersion of Ganesh idols is completed. Steps have to be taken to ensure uninterrupted power supply at all locations, the Collector said.
Gautham advised the Ganesh pandal organisers to strictly follow the route map which the police have released to reach the immersion locations in the city and other parts in the district. Cranes have been put in place at spots and steps for supplying drinking water to the devotees taken.
CP, Warrier informed that as many as 1700 Ganesh idols would be immersed at various places in the district. Measures have been taken to ensure the smooth flow of vehicular traffic and immersion processions.
As many as five ACPs, 13 CIs, 28 SIs, 29 ASI/HCs, 100 police constables, 10 women head constables and constables, 50 Home Guards and one Armed Reserve force section would be deployed as part of security arrangements, he noted.
City Mayor, P Neeraja, Additional DCP, Subhash Chandra Bose, ACPs, Ramoji Ramesh and others were present.
