The Collector in a statement here on Sunday appealed to people of Madhira and surrounding areas to take note of change in the location and take advantage of the opportunity.

Collector VP Gautham cautioned that encroachment of any government land against the rules would not be tolerated.

According to the horticulture department's estimate, the farmers have grown chilli in 92,274 acres and expected yield was 23, 06, 860 quintals.

In Khammam constituency 39 candidates filed 59 sets of nominations, in Palair 42 candidates filed 59 sets of nominations, in Madhira 22 candidates filed 33 sets of nominations, in Wyra 16 candidates filed 23 sets of nominations and in Sathupalli 28 candidates filed 41 sets of nominations, he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Gautham said that the polling officers should play a vital role to ensure that the elections were held smoothly without any problems.

The Collector held a meeting with the representatives of political parties on the draft voters list here on Friday.

The farmers told the Collector that the normal yield was 40 quintals per acre due to untimely rains the yield would be reduced to 15 quintals per acre.
