Khammam: Tight security arrangements have been made for Khammam Municipal Corporation (KMC) polling to be held on Friday, informed Commissioner of Police (CP), Vishnu S Warrier, here on Thursday.
He said a team of around 1700 police personnel and officials led by nine ACPs has been deployed to maintain law and order and to ensure incident-free polling. There were six hyper sensitive polling stations, 17 sensitive and 50 general polling stations in the KMC limits.
As many as 14 Circle Inspectors, 43 Sub Inspectors, 180 ASIs/ Head Constables, 792 Constables, 136 Women Constables / Home Guards, 349 Home Guards and 104 Armed Force Police and three platoons of TSSP would be on duty on polling day.
The CP held an awareness meeting to explain dos and don’ts of the electoral procedures to the police personnel and officials here on Wednesday. Police should work in coordination with the local election officials to ensure that the elections take place in a peaceful atmosphere.
He stressed on the need of following covid guidelines. Every on duty police should wear face masks so that they would not be infected with the coronavirus. Face masks, sanitisers, face guards and hand gloves to the police personnel distributed in advance, he said.
Warrier told the police on election duty not to leave the polling station under any circumstances and go into the polling booths only at the request of the returning officer. No person other than voters should be allowed on the premises of the polling stations.
