2,000 police personnel deployed for IPL Matches at Uppal Stadium

Malkajgiri police will deploy around 2,000 personnel for IPL matches at Uppal Stadium on April 5 and May 22. With 430 cameras and tight security measures, traffic restrictions will also be enforced on match day.

Hyderabad: The Malkajgiri police will be deploying around 2,000 policemen as part of security arrangements for the upcoming Tata IPL Matches to be held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Uppal.

The matches will be held on April 5 and May 22 at the stadium having a capacity of 39,000 people.


The security detail comprises 750 law and order police, traffic – 300 cops, TSSP/ AR 10 platoons, mounted police, bomb detection team and fire tenders.

“The surveillance will be maintained at the stadium with a total of 430 cameras that will be installed at vehicle checking points, parking places and will cover the entire stadium,” said Avinash Mohanty, Commissioner of Police, Malkajgiri.

In view of the match on April 5, there will be traffic restrictions around the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium between 12 noon and 11.50 pm.
