Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Special Operations Team (SOT) and LB Nagar police arrested a man in alleged possession of a pistol and six live rounds at LB Nagar on Thursday.
The arrested person, Mohd Hussain (22), from Roshan Colony in Mailardevpally in Rajendranagar, was a daily wage worker and was reportedly planning robberies and extortion to make money.
“For this, he procured a firearm and live rounds from a dealer in Uttar Pradesh and kept it with him,” an official said, adding that the police were investigating the exact source of the weapon and his plans including targets.
Following a tip-off, the SOT police nabbed Hussain at Chintalakunta check post in LB Nagar.
He was handed over to the LB Nagar police for further action.
