Mancherial: Residents of NTR Nagar and Ramnagar in Mancherial were shifted to safer locations on Saturday after backwater from Rallavagu submerged the two colonies.
Twenty-seven families were moved to a rehabilitation camp set up in the town. They expressed anguish that their localities were frequently inundated whenever heavy rains lashed the area, and urged officials to find a permanent solution. Residents said they had been spending sleepless nights due to the recurring threat of flooding.
Collector Kumar Deepak, who inspected the colonies, said steps were being taken to prevent inconvenience to residents. He added that patients from a mother and child hospital were already shifted to safer places where treatment was being provided.
The Collector advised rain-hit residents to report their grievances through the control room on 08736-250501.
