Hyderabad: A total of 291 international passengers, who arrived from at-risk countries to Hyderabad international airport on Sunday, were screened by surveillance teams of the health department and have tested negative for Covid-19.

Since December 1, the surveillance teams have screened and conducted RTPCR tests on 1270 passengers out of which 13 have tested positive. The blood samples of the passengers who tested positive for Covid were sent to CCMB and CDFD for full genome sequencing. The remaining 1257 international passengers are under home quarantine and will undergo RTPCR test on the 8th day. If they test negative, then they will have to stay in home quarantine for one more week.

“We are yet to receive the genome sequencing reports of the 13 international passengers who tested positive for Covid. The sequencing results are expected to arrive by Monday. All the positive passengers are in our care at Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS), Gachibowli and are in stable condition,” Director of Public Health (DPH) Dr G Srinivasa Rao said.
