29,651 PG seats vacant after first phase of CPGET 2026 allotment

Nearly 30,000 postgraduate seats remained vacant after the first phase of CPGET 2026 counselling in Telangana. Of 47,237 convener-quota seats, 17,586 were allotted, while 23,122 candidates exercised web options. Women accounted for the larger share of applicants and allotments

Hyderabad: Nearly 30,000 seats in various postgraduate programmes offered by conventional universities in Telangana remained vacant after the first phase of Common Post Graduate Entrance Tests (CPGET) 2026 seat allotment.

Of the 47,237 convener-quota seats in MA, MSc, MCom and other PG programmes available for first-phase counselling, 17,586 seats were allotted, leaving 29,651 vacant.

The number of seats was more than double the number of candidates who participated in the counselling. Overall, 23,122 candidates exercised web options for the 47,237 seats under the convener quota.

Interestingly, women continued to outnumber men among those seeking admission to higher education, with more than twice as many women as men exercising web options. As many as 16,306 women exercised web options, of whom 13,125 were allotted seats. Among men, 6,816 exercised web options and 4,461 were allotted seats.

Candidates who received seat allotments are required to pay the prescribed fee online through credit card, debit card or net banking.

After paying the fee, candidates should download the fee payment receipt and complete the self-reporting process through the website on or before September 21.

Candidates satisfied with the allotted course and college have to report to the respective college and submit the original transfer certificate (TC).

They need to submit only the original TC at the allotted college. Other original certificates, including the SSC memo, degree memo, caste, EWS and income certificates, are required only for physical verification, said Prof I Panduranga Reddy, Admissions Convener, TG CPGET 2026.
