Kothagudem: Director of Public Health G Srinivas Rao has directed the district health officials to complete the ongoing Covid vaccination drive by the end of this month.
He along with the local MLA Vanama Venkateswara Rao and District Collector D Anudeep held a meeting with health officials to review the progress of the vaccination drive here on Wednesday. They launched mobile vaccination units on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas Rao informed that so far 65 per cent of eligible population was vaccinated in Kothagudem district. The district health officials have to conduct a review with ANMs and Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) at Primary Health Centre (PHC) level.
Details of those who did not receive the vaccination have to be collected, and first and second dose of Covid vaccine should be administered to them. A planned approach was a must to achieve cent per cent vaccination, he suggested.
In order to speed up the vaccination drive as many as 20 mobile vaccination units were launched to vaccinate the public in urban areas. Data of vaccinated people has to be cross checked at village level, Srinivas Rao said.
He expressed his ire at the Allapalli PHC health officer for low rate vaccination under the limits of the health centre and wanted the district health officials to focus on PHCs with low vaccination rate.
In rural areas Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) vehicles have to be used to vaccinate people. Steps to identify malaria, dengue, TB and Covid hotspots should be made followed by remedial measures, he said.
Collector Anudeep informed that around 3.96 lakh people were vaccinated in the district since Jan 16 on which the Covid vaccine was made available in the district. As part of the special drive launched on Sep 16 three lakh people were vaccinated and one mobile unit would be deployed for two municipal wards in urban areas to administer Covid vaccine.
MLA Venkateswara Rao appreciated the district administration and the health officials for their efforts in containing the Covid spread. DM&HO, Dr. JVL Sirisha, hospitals coordinator, Dr. Mukkanteshwar Rao and vaccination programme officer, Dr. Nagendra Prasad were present.
