Siddipet: Siddipet District Collector P Venkatrami Reddy on Wednesday said the government would set up 396 paddy procurement centres across Siddipet district to procure 6.86 lakh tonnes of paddy from 1.79 lakh farmers in the district.
Addressing a meeting conducted with rice millers at Integrated Collectorate Complex in Siddipet on Wednesday, the Collector said that they would set up 100 per cent of procurement centres within three days as the harvesting of paddy has already commenced in the district. He said the respective Agriculture Extension Officers will give a certificate to each farmer and suggested the farmers to carry the certificate to procurement centres. He assured the farmers that the payment amount will be deposited into their accounts within three days after the paddy is purchased from the farmers.
Saying that he had appointed incharge officials at all levels to streamline the paddy procurement, the Collector said that the administration would ensure lifting of paddy quickly at rice mills to ensure there is no delay in the completion of procurement. Additional Collector Muzammil Khan, Trainee Collector Praful Desai and others were also present.
