Khammam: As many as 5.36 lakh persons above 18 years of age have been administered the first dose of Covid vaccine in the district, informed District Collector, VP Gautham. Around 1.33 lakh persons have been administered the second dose. Special vaccination teams have been engaged at 214 health sub-centres in rural areas and at 125 wards in urban health facilities, he said.
There were about 9.4 lakh persons with above 18 years of age under the limits of 28 primary health centres across the district. A special call centre would be set up at district headquarters to give information on Covid vaccination programme. The Collector visited a few health centres in Konijerla mandal in the district on Thursday to monitor the special Covid vaccination drive which was launched on the day. He interacted with health officials and residents in the villages.
During his interaction with villagers Gautham explained to them in detail that receiving Covid vaccine was safe and there would be no side effects. He told the residents that the State government launched the special drive to vaccinate people against Covid. He further informed that a special survey was underway to identify the persons who were not yet vaccinated and to achieve 100 per cent vaccination for all above 18 years old. The public should make use of the vaccination camps, he suggested.
Gautham wanted the health officials to vaccinate at least 2000 persons under every primary health centre’s limits. He stressed on the need for participation of elected members in the vaccination drive by educating the public.
