He wanted a sufficient number of saplings grown for taking up canal bund plantation. Similarly saplings required by households, farmers and for avenue plantation have to be grown. Care must be taken for the survival of the saplings already planted.
Gautham asked officials to identify gaps in multi-layer avenue plantations on main highways and in the villages. Every nursery should have a fencing, water facility, gate and shade nets. Saplings of dates palm and wild date palms have to be grown in nueries for canal bund plantation.
Farmers interested in growing teak plants have to identify and provide them teak saplings to plant at their farm fields. Forest an DRDA officials have to visit the nurseries where the management of nurseries was not on expected lines, he suggested.
Steps to start nurseries where there was need in Khammam Municipal Corporation and municipalities in the district have to be taken. Similarly measures to continue the existing nurseries in the next year and to improve facilities have to be taken, Gautham added.
