Mancherial: As many as 300 policemen would be deployed as part of security arrangements being made for Pranahita Pushkaralu to be held at Arjunagutta and Devulawada villages in Kotapalli mandal and Vemanapalli mandal centre from April 13 to 24. In-charge DCP Akhil Mahajan told ‘Telangana Today’ that all the arrangements were made for the smooth conduct of the mass holy bathing festival.
Akhil said that 300 policemen including 15 inspectors, 20 sub-inspectors and constables drawn from neighboring Nirmal and Adilabad district were going to be positioned at the venues to prevent untoward incidents. The force would be increased based on the flow of the devotee. Two large parking lots were also created for the convenience of motorists. He said that they were taking help of SCCL rescue teams to prevent drowning incidents and rescue devotees if submerged in the river. He requested the devotees to follow traffic norms and to extend cooperation to policemen who were discharging duties at ghats. He advised them to share their problems with the police.
The DCP further said that they were coordinating with police of Sironcha for smooth conduct of the festival and for management of the crowd. The devotees may be advised to take holy dip at ghats created in Sironcha if the ghats record heavy rushes. So do the devotees visiting ghats of the neighboring state. He added that they were leaving no stone unturned to avoid inconvenience to the devotees.
In the meantime, 200 policemen including two inspectors, a DSP rank officer, eight Sub-Inspectors, head constables and constables were going to be deployed at a venue of the festival at Thummidihetti village in Koutala mandal of Kumram Bheem Asifabad district. Fool-proof security arrangements were made for the success of the event, Superintendent of Police Suresh Kumar said.
