8th-grade student dies after a botched treatment by RMP in Khammam’s Konijerla
A 14-year-old Class 8 student died after allegedly receiving treatment from an RMP in Khammam district. Her family accused the practitioner of negligence after she developed breathing difficulties following an injection. Police registered a case and launched an investigation
Khammam: An 8th-grade student died following a botched treatment allegedly under the influence of alcohol by a registered medical practitioner at Baswapuram of Konijarla mandal in the district.
The student Challa Hemasri (14), who was studying at the local Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, fell ill with a cold and fever; her parents took her to a local RMP Sampath. He administered an injection through an intravenous (IV) cannula in the hand.
Family members stated that after the RMP administered the injection, the girl experienced breathing difficulties and was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Khammam. Doctors there performed an ECG and confirmed her death.
The girl’s father Challa Ramesh has lodged a complaint against the RMP at the local police station alleging that the child died due to his negligence. It was said that after the girl’s death the police tested the RMP with a breath analyser and found that he had consumed alcohol at that time.
The police have registered a case; launched an investigation and the RMP has absconded, said SI Suraj.
