Mancherial: In a heart-wrenching incident, a 26-year-old woman ended life by hanging from a ceiling fan as she feared that she might give birth to a baby girl for the second time, in NTR Nagar here on Wednesday evening. She was carrying a nine-month pregnancy and was scheduled for delivery on Thursday. The incident went viral on social media platforms on Friday.
Mancherial Inspector Narayana Naik said that the deceased was Yeggana Ramya, the wife of Anand from NTR Nagar in the town. Ramya resorted to the drastic step in the absence of her family members at the home, as she was reportedly upset to give birth to a baby girl, as predicted by a private radiologist of the town. She feared that her in-laws would torture her for delivering a baby girl for the second time. Her expected date of delivery was on January 6.
But the matured foetus in her womb was found to be a baby boy as per a report of post-mortem. The discovery shocked her family members who felt that she would have been excited to see her son if both of them were alive. Hailing from Narspur village in Dandepalli mandal, Ramya was married to Anand in 2017. The couple had a three-year-old girl named Adhya.
Pulishetti Ganganna, the father of the woman, a case was registered. Investigations were taken up. In the meantime, people widely shared her story on social media platforms. They expressed shock over the incident and opined that the foetus could have seen the world had the woman did not take the hasty decision.
