Bengaluru radiologist booked for alleged rape of woman employee

A case has been registered against a Bengaluru radiologist accused of raping a woman employee and threatening her with an alleged video. She also accused him of repeated sexual assault and casteist abuse. Police registered charges under BNS and SC/ST Act provisions

Bengaluru: A case was registered against a radiologist for allegedly raping a woman staff member who worked at his diagnostic centre and abusing her with derogatory casteist remarks, police said on Tuesday. The matter came to light after the woman approached the Kodigehalli police station on September 3, they said. According to police, in her complaint, the woman claimed that the accused doctor took her to a room on the first floor of his diagnostic laboratory on December 15, 2025, on the pretext that he needed to search for some files.

At around 11 am, he allegedly sprayed pepper spray on her face and forcibly raped her. When she regained consciousness at around 11.30 am, she found herself naked. When she questioned him, he allegedly threatened her, saying that he had recorded a video of her and that, if she told anyone about the incident, he would upload the video on social media, the FIR said.

Fearing him, she alleged that she complied with his demands and continued to remain silent. Thereafter, he allegedly arranged a rented house for her and would come to the house every day and forcibly rape her, it said. She further alleged that on July 2, 2026, he abused her using derogatory words referring to her caste and told her that she belonged to a lower caste, that he belonged to a higher caste and that he no longer wanted her association.

He also allegedly told her that she would no longer have a job in his company, the FIR said. Following her complaint, a case was registered against the doctor under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for rape, criminal intimidation and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace, as well as relevant provisions of the SC and the ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, a senior police officer said. “All allegations are being verified and further investigation is underway,” he added.
