Hyderabad: The Oscars, officially known as the Academy Awards, are the biggest honours in the film industry, celebrating outstanding achievements in cinema.
The 97th Academy Awards, held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, and hosted by Conan O’Brien, recognised the best films and performances of the year.
Anora, a gripping drama about a young woman navigating life’s unexpected turns, won Best Picture and earned multiple awards, including Best Director (Sean Baker), Best Actress (Mikey Madison), Best Original Screenplay and Best Film Editing.

The Brutalist, a historical drama about an architect fleeing war-torn Europe, saw Adrien Brody win Best Actor, Lol Crawley win Best Cinematography and Daniel Blumberg take Best Original Score.

Kieran Culkin won Best Supporting Actor for his role in A Real Pain, a comedy-drama about two estranged cousins reconnecting on a trip.

Zoe Saldana won Best Supporting Actress for Emilia Perez, a musical crime drama where a cartel leader undergoes a life-changing transformation, which also won Best Original Song for El Mal.

Dune: Part Two, the epic sci-fi sequel about Paul Atreides’ journey, dominated the technical categories, winning Best Sound and Best Visual Effects.

Flow, an animated feature about a lost animal’s journey to find its way home, won Best Animated Feature, while No Other Land, a documentary highlighting the struggles of Palestinian communities, won Best Documentary Feature.

I’m Still Here, a Brazilian film about survival and identity, won Best International Feature.

Conclave, a political thriller set within the Vatican, won Best Adapted Screenplay.

Wicked, a fantasy musical about the untold story of the witches of Oz, won Best Production Design and Best Costume Design.

The Substance, a horror film about a mysterious beauty treatment with dark consequences, won Best Makeup and Hairstyling.

Other winners included In the Shadow of the Cypress (Best Animated Short Film), I’m Not a Robot (Best Live Action Short Film) and The Only Girl in the Orchestra (Best Documentary Short Film).
