A year after retirement, Nevada’s legendary 3$ Beatrice is still hot topic

Hyderabad: The retirement of a 76-year-old woman, from the world’s oldest profession far away in Nevada in the United States, is still topic of discussion on social media, with many continuing to praise her services and at the same time, crack jokes.

The subject: 76-year-old Beatrice Thomson, popular as Beatrice ‘3$’ Thompson, whose retirement from prostitution made it to local media, many of which termed it an important milestone in the history of prostitution in Nevada, which is the only US State where prostitution is legally permitted in some form.
Before going into the discussion, here’s a little about Beatrice. According to local media reports, she was nicknamed ‘3$’ for the price of her services when she started working in the sex industry. The Sex Workers’ Union of Nevada named her ‘Sex Worker of the Year’ 17 times between 1969 and 1992 and gave her a lifetime achievement as well in 2011. Reports say she announced her retirement after a 54-year-old career, after satisfying 5,00,000 customers, including four American Presidents!
Her last customer, according to one report, was a 34-year-old man from Hamburg in Germany, who says he made the 5400-miles trip specifically for Beatrice. Reports say she has documents to prove her claims, including employer records, tax records and even tens of thousands of customer reviews. The reports also quote her saying she had the ability to satisfy 50 to 100 customers a day when she was younger.
As for the discussions and comments on the Reddit post on her, some said thanks to her, while there were some who called her a ‘true veteran of the country’, to some who said she could have hiked her price after the four presidents. One person said ‘as someone living in Nevada, this isn’t really that surprising’.
