Hyderabad: In a first for Bollywood, Aamir Khan is skipping big streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney+ for his next film Sitaare Zameen Par. Instead, he’s choosing a bold new path, YouTube Pay-Per-View (PPV).

The film will first hit theatres. Later, viewers can watch it online by paying directly on YouTube. This move marks the first time a big Bollywood film will use YouTube’s PPV model. No monthly subscriptions. No OTT platforms. Just pay once and play.

By avoiding OTT deals, Aamir Khan plans to keep full control over pricing, release dates, and audience data. More importantly, it lets him keep most of the money, without giving a share to platforms.

This new model could change how Indian films are released. It opens the door for smaller or independent films to also reach a wide audience directly, without middlemen.

Sitaare Zameen Par deals with mental health, a subject that needs attention and wide reach. The film is directed by R S Prasanna, and is slated for release on June 20. Alongside Aamir Khan, the cast includes Genelia Deshmukh, Vedant Sharma, Simran Mangeshkar, Dolly Ahluwalia and Brijendra Kala.
