Kothagudem: Telangana Forest Development Corporation (TGFDC) Kothagudem divisional manager, Thati Sravani was taken into custody in Visakhapatnam on Saturday by an ACB team led by ACB Khammam range DSP, Y Ramesh.
Sravani was the main accused in a bribe case the ACB registered on January 3 in the district. She demanded an amount of Rs 3.51 lakh as bribe for approving the complainants’ bills related to cutting of approximately 3900 tonnes of eucalyptus trees at a plantation.
The corporation’s plantation manager, Thadi Rajendra Kumar of Kothagudem forest sub-division and a private person Chennam Gopala Krishna were caught red-handed while accepting the bribe at Gopala Krishna’s residence on behalf of Sravani, who went into hiding.
The ACB officials, who had kept a close watch on her movements, finally traced her at Visakhapatnam and took her into custody. The accused officer reportedly tried to obtain anticipatory bail to avoid arrest, but could not get it. Officials stated that she would be produced before the ACB court on Saturday.
