Narayanpet: The sleuths of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught Marikal Tahsildar and Joint Sub-Registrar S Sridhar red-handed at his office in Narayanpet district where he demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 20,000. He was arrested for seeking the bribe from a complainant for succession of agriculture land from her husband’s name to her name.
At around 4 pm on Wednesday, the ACB officials laid the trap and recovered the tainted bribe from a file which was in the possession of the accused officer. The chemical analysis yielded a positive result. The ACB authorities said the accused officer performed his duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage. He was produced before the First Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases-cum-Fifth Additional Chief Judge at Hyderabad. The case is under investigation.
Meanwhile, the ACB authorities urged people to contact the toll free number ‘1064’ and lodge their complaints in case of any public servant demanding a bribe.
