Hyderabad: The sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday caught a Revenue Inspector of Alair mandal in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district while accepting a Rs 14,000 bribe through a Grama Palana Officer (GPO) for issuing a report to facilitate the registration of land.

According to the ACB, Vemuganti Purnachander Rao, Revenue Inspector, Alair mandal, demanded the bribe from an individual for issuing a report to the Tahsildar to facilitate the registration of land sold by the complainant’s sister.

Rao allegedly received the bribe through Shaik Ahmed, GPO of Kolanupaka village. ACB officials of the Nalgonda Range caught the two officials, and the Rs 14,000 bribe amount was recovered from Ahmed at the instance of Rao.

The ACB said the officials had acted improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage.

The two accused officers were being produced before the I Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Nampally, for judicial remand. The case is under investigation.
