ACB raids Nizamabad Excise Superintendent Mallareddy, disproportionate assets case registered

The Anti-Corruption Bureau has registered a disproportionate assets case against Nizamabad District Prohibition and Excise Superintendent K. Mallareddy and conducted raids at his residence and other premises in Nizamabad and Hyderabad.

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday conducted simultaneous searches at multiple locations linked to K Mallareddy, District Prohibition and Excise Superintendent, Nizamabad, after registering a disproportionate assets case against him.

According to ACB officials, Mallareddy allegedly amassed assets far exceeding his known sources of income through corrupt practices during his service. Based on the allegations, a case was recently registered under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Following which, searches were carried out at his residence and 10 other premises belonging to his relatives, associates and suspected benamis in Nizamabad and Hyderabad. During the raids, officials found four residential houses, one commercial building, eight open plots and 10.23 acres of agricultural land.

ACB officials also found cash of about Rs 3.31 lakh, bank deposits worth nearly Rs 50 lakh, and three bank lockers held in the names of Mallareddy’s family members. The lockers are yet to be opened.

The value of the assets detected so far is estimated at around Rs 3 crore based on documentary value, while the market value of the immovable properties is expected to be significantly higher. The official was produced before the special court for ACB cases and remanded in judicial custody.
