Khammam: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths carried out surprise inspections at the Regional Transport Authority office in Khammam on Saturday and took 13 agents operating illegally within the office premises into custody.
ACB Khammam range DSP Y Ramesh said Rs.78,120 unaccounted cash, collected from applicants for various services, was seized from the agents. As many as 837 original vehicle registration certificates and original driving licences were found in the possession of the agents.
Presence of unauthorised agents handling official documents indicates serious procedural violations and possible corruption. The officials concerned were found to be negligent in discharging their duties by allowing agents to move freely in the office, he said.
