Telangana owes Christmas celebrations to Sonia Gandhi, says Revanth Reddy
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy stirred controversy by claiming that Christmas celebrations in the State were possible only due to the sacrifices of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi. His remarks quickly went viral, with many recalling his earlier criticism of Sonia Gandhi during his tenure in the Telugu Desam Party.
Hyderabad: Taking sycophancy to new levels, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday claimed that Christmas was being celebrated in Telangana only because of the sacrifices of his party leader Sonia Gandhi.
Speaking at the Christmas celebrations hosted by the State government at the Lal Bahadur Stadium here on Saturday, Revanth Reddy said if people were celebrating Christmas in Telangana, it was because of “Sonia Gandhi’s crucial role and sacrifice behind it”.
Claiming that Sonia Gandhi fulfilled the six-decade-old dream of a separate Telangana, he went on to call December a miracle month for the Congress and for the people of Telangana.
“I am making these announcements officially as Sonia Gandhi was born on December 9. After many youngsters sacrificed their lives for a separate Telangana and despite suffering a huge political loss in Andhra Pradesh, she delivered Telangana,” the Chief Minister said.
Interestingly, soon after his statements went viral on social media, many pointed out how the same Revanth Reddy, while in the Telugu Desam Party, had called Sonia Gandhi ‘Bali Devatha’, and accused her of being responsible for the loss of lives of many youngsters who had sacrificed their lives for a separate Telangana.
