Mancherial: A technical assistant of the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development department was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from an applicant at Kannepalli mandal centre on Saturday.
ACB DSP Madhu said the official, Banu Durga Prasad, was caught red-handed in a trap while taking the bribe to sanction a bill for the construction of a cow shed at Lingapur village.
The complainant had approached the ACB after being harassed by the assistant, who demanded money and deliberately delayed recording the measurements of the completed work. Acting on the complaint, officials laid a trap and apprehended Durga Prasad while accepting the bribe.
The accused was later produced before a special court for ACB cases in Karimnagar.
