Peddapalli: Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths trapped Irrigation department Assistant Engineer while accepting Rs 20,000 bribe from a contractor in Peddapalli on Monday.

According to ACB officials, AE Narsinga Rao demanded a bribe from the contractor Thammadaboina Srinivas Yadav to record MB of the work done by the latter.

Not interested to give bribe, Srinivas Yadav approached ACB who hatched a plan and trapped AE while accepting Rs 20,000 from the contractor. Surprisingly, AE took the amount from the contractor on the road itself. ACB sleuths, who had hid nearby the area, detained AE while accepting the bribe.

ACB police took the AE to the Executive Engineer office for questioning and examining the records.
