Adilabad: An accounts officer was nabbed by ACB officials while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 to perform his duty in Adilabad municipality on Thursday.

ACB DSP Madhu said Raj Kumar was caught red-handed when he was receiving the bribe from a contractor to sanction a bill.

The accounts officer reportedly harassed the contractor by demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000 to release the funds for the bill relating to a development work in the town. The contractor approached the ACB officials, who in turn laid the dragnet and trapped Raj Kumar while accepting the bribe.

The officer will be produced before a special court for ACB cases in Karimnagar, the officials said.
