Hyderabad: AIMIM Floor Leader Akbaruddin Owaisi said the party would strongly oppose any move to privatize the profit-making Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) by Central Government.

While supporting the Appropriation Bill tabled by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao in the Assembly here on Tuesday, he wanted the State Government to acquire the Central Government’s shares in SCCL, “Our appeals to make the State Government as the sole owner of SCCL were not considered by the UPA Government in the past,” said Akbaruddin Owaisi while speaking during discussions on the Bills.

He said the Centre had failed in according national status to any irrigation project being executed by Telangana Government. Niti Aayog recommendations for special financial assistance to Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha were also not considered by the Centre, he said.

The AIMIM Floor leader appealed to the Chief Minister to allocate more funds to GHMC and Rs.200 crore for executing road widening works in Old City. There were 135 municipalities and 13 municipal corporations in the State as against 32 municipalities and six municipal corporations before 2014.

However, the State Government had allocated Rs.10, 591 crore in the budget slashing the allocations by nearly Rs.4,330 crore compared to last budget, he pointed out.
