Hyderabad: Adani Skill Development Centre (ASDC) has set up a cargo handling equipment training simulator at Krishnapatnam. With this, the centre has three types of simulators – wagon loader, mobile crane, and earth moving equipment simulators.
These simulators are advanced training tools to effectively train and evaluate operators on safe loading, lifting, digging, and dumping techniques. Its design is based on the actual equipment and recreates realistic operations of the equipment. Operators using cranes or loaders, especially at ports, when trained on these simulators, gain the skills they require to operate such heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
The ASDC has procured the equipment to provide training to the workforce at the Adani Krishnapatnam Port as part of various courses since these aid in providing skills outside of the real equipment. This training will prepare the operators in such a way that accidents and loss of property and life will be averted to a great extent, the company said.
The wagon loader equipment simulator is used to load coal, cement, and fertilizer, and it will assist operators in loading materials in a systematic and loss-free manner. At present, 200 operators are working in the Engineering and Training Services (ETS) department. The mobile crane equipment simulator has nine types of design and is most useful in container terminals and the ETS department.
There are nearly 350 operators working in these two departments and this training will benefit them in operations like loading and discharge of containers. The earthmoving equipment simulator involves seven types of operations and is useful for the operators.
“This cutting-edge technology will train and prepare our operators working at the ports to carry out their work smoothly and efficiently,” Jatin Trivedi, COO, Adani Skill Development Centre.
