Suryapet: Additional District Collector S Mohan Rao on Sunday said steps had been taken on a war-footing to clear the floodwaters from the residential colonies in Suryapet town.
Mohan Rao, accompanied by officials of Suryapet municipality and revenue department, visited SV Degree College, Bhagathsingh Nagar, Krishna Colony, which were inundated in floodwater, and monitored the situation. He also discussed with the officials the measures to divert flood water to avoid further inundation of the colonies.

Stating that the people should not go near SV Degree College, he said that barricades had been set up on the roads leading to the college and police personnel were deployed at the places as a precautionary measure. The flow of floodwater into the colonies had come down with the removal of garbage in nalas besides desilting of drainage canals.
