Adhere to FSSAI norms to ensure safe and hygienic food to citizens, says CMC

Cyberabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner G. Srijana directed Swiggy to enforce strict food safety standards. Swiggy agreed to require valid Trade and FSSAI licences for all listed eateries and cloud kitchens, alongside establishing new onboarding SOPs to protect public health

Hyderabad: Commissioner of Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) G Srijana directed representatives of Swiggy to ensure the availability of safe and hygienic food to citizens and to strengthen food safety compliance among food business operators.

On Thursday, she held a meeting with the Swiggy representatives and the Health and Sanitation wing of the civic body. She said that strict adherence to statutory requirements by all food establishments operating through online food delivery platforms.


Swiggy agreed to incorporate the requirement of a valid Trade License along with the ‘Food Safety and Standards Authority of India’ (FSSAI) Licence for food establishments operating on its platform and also to nominate a Nodal Officer from the CMC for effective coordination and communication, said a press release.

The Swiggy representatives also agreed to develop and implement ‘Standard Operating Procedures’ (SOPs) for onboarding agencies and food business operators, including guidance for obtaining FSSAI licence. It also assured that cloud kitchens and food retailers operating through the platform would be strictly regulated and verified to ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, it said.

CMC officials reiterated that ensuring food safety and protecting public health remained among its highest priorities.
