Adilabad: Dairy farmers dump milk on road in protest against delay in clearing bills

Say they were unable to buy fodder for their cattle and to meet day-to-day expenses due to delay in payment of bills

Adilabad: In protest against the delay in payments of bills by the State-owned Vijaya Dairy, dairy farmers on Monday dumped milk on the road here on Monday.

Dairy farmers, belonging to several parts of the district, gathered in the district centre and staged a protest. They urged the officials of the state-run dairy to clear their pending bills.

They stated that they were unable to buy fodder for their cattle and to meet day-to-day expenses due to delay in payment of bills.

The protesting farmers said that officials told them that the bills would be cleared in a fortnight. However, not a penny has been paid so far, they said.

They requested the government to take steps to address their problem. They wanted bills to be cleared every fortnight.
