Adilabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Thursday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was cheating farmers in more ways than the Congress.

Speaking at the Rythannala Poru Bata public meeting at Ramleela ground here on Thursday, Rama Rao found fault with the BJP offering a minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 8,800 per quintal of cotton in Gujarat, significantly higher than the Rs.7500 being offered to farmers of Adilabad. He stated that both the local BJP MLA and MP would be chased down if the same MSP was not given to cotton growers. He asked as to why the party was showing discrimination against Telangana.

Stating that Telangana produces fine quality cotton, he demanded the BJP to offer the MSP of Rs 8,800 to cotton farmers of Adilabad. He said the BRS would launch a stir if the same price was not offered to the farmers. He wanted the BJP to strive hard for reviving the sick unit of Cement Corporation of India in Adilabad.

Calling Narendra Modi the “jumla” Prime Minister in New Delhi and Revanth Reddy a “haula” Chief Minister in Hyderabad, since both were failing to keep poll promises and duping all sections of the society, he pointed out that while Modi’s promise to credit Rs.15 lakh in accounts of the public if voted to power was not kept, Revanth Reddy had not kept his promise to Rs.15,000 to farmers. He also recalled Revanth Reddy’s promise to allocate 42 percent of seats to backward castes in elections to local bodies.

Thanking farmers of the district for waging a war against the government seeking Rythu Bharosa, Rythu Bima and the crop loan waiver, Rama Rao said he would expose failures of the government by meeting farmers in their agriculture fields. The BRS also stood for Bharata Rythu Samithi and was fighting on behalf of the farmers, he said.
