Adilabad SBI ATM heist: Rs 14 lakh stolen, say police
The ATM at Ramnagar had been loaded with cash sufficient for three days in view of the weekend holidays, making it a lucrative target
Adilabad: Unidentified persons stole Rs 14 lakh from an SBI ATM kiosk at Ramnagar in the town in the early hours of Saturday, police said.
According to officials investigating the case, the miscreants cut open the ATM chest using gas cutters and looted the cash. A CLUES team was deployed to examine the scene, and police said they were confident of identifying the culprits soon.
Initial suspicion points to the involvement of an inter-State gang. The ATM had been loaded with cash sufficient for three days in view of the weekend holidays, making it a lucrative target.
The heist, carried out on the premises of the bank, exposed serious lapses in security as the gang managed to bypass existing safeguards and escape undetected.
