Adilabad: Several residents of Khanapur booked for abusing CM Revanth

Move comes after locals oppose survey to identify boundaries and FTL of irrigation tank, prompting the officials to withdraw their move on Friday

Adilabad: Several persons from Khanapur here were booked on the charges of abusing Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday.

Adilabad I town Inspector D Sunil Kumar said a case was booked against Ganganna and others for abusing Revanth Reddy when officials of both the Municipal and Revenue Departments were carrying out a survey to identify boundaries and full tank level of an irrigation tank in Khanapur under the Section 296 B of Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of Information Technology Act.

The locals opposed the survey by claiming they had been living here for 30 years, prompting the officials to withdraw their move on Friday.

Municipal chairperson Jogu Premender told officials to find alternative solutions before conducting the survey during a general body meeting with officials of the civic body.

In a press statement, Adilabad RDO Vinod Kumar clarified that the survey was aimed at preventing encroachment of the tank in future. He stated that houses of people would not be bulldozed.
