Adilabad: Two persons were arrested for allegedly organising banned matka online here on Saturday.
Two mobile phones and Rs 3.04 lakh in cash were seized from them. One more accused person was absconding.
District SP D Uday Kumar said that the accused persons were Amulwar Rajeshwar and Ade Pramod of Indiranagar in Adilabad town. Giridhar Sharma of Pandrakoda in Maharashtra is still at large.
Uday Kumar said that Rajeshwar and Pramod confessed to organizing the gambling on instant messaging platform WhatsApp to make a fast buck. He said that the orgnisers were using digital wallet platforms Google Pay and Phone pe for transferring funds. He requested the public not to indulge in the offence and to ruin their lives. He stated that matka was an addiction.
Adilabad DSP NSV Venkateshwar Rao, Adilabad II town Inspector K Sridhar, CCS Inspector E Chandramouli, Special Branch Inspector K Krishna Murthy, Sub-Inspector Anwar-Ul-Huq and many other police officials were present.
