Adilabad women tie Rakhis to Indian Army martyrs’ statues, recall supreme sacrifice

Women and families in Adilabad villages marked Raksha Bandhan by tying Rakhis to statues of Army martyrs, offering prayers and recalling their sacrifices.

Adilabad: Family members tied Rakhis to statues of Indian army martyrs from the district honouring their supreme sacrifice and marking the Raksha Bandhan festival in different villages on Friday.

Women tied Rakhis to Indian army soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty at Narsapur, Bazarhathnoor, Varthamannur and Ponnari villages. They performed prayers at the statues of the martyrs and celebrated the festival, recalling their sacrifices in protecting the country by setting their families aside.

Akhila from Varthamannur said that she never imagined that she would tie a Rakhi to her brother’s statue this year. She recounted that her brother Akash, a member of Assam Rifles, was killed in an exchange of fire on the borders in 2025, shattering their dreams.

Meanwhile, women and villagers celebrated a similar festival by tying Rakhis to a statue of Sanjeev, a martyred Jawan at Narsapur village. They recalled that Sanjeev, a member of the Indian Army medical wing, was martyred while discharging duties in Sudan in 2021. They recalled that Sanjeev was a kind-hearted man and affable person. They paid tributes to the soldiers.
